Mets prep for another miracle

With the New York Mets clinching the National League East Division title on Saturday, it brings back memories of the 1969 Miracle Mets who staged one of the great comebacks in major leaague history to win the East Division title and then went on to beat the Baltimore Orioles in the World Series. That team, led by catcher Jerry Grote and center fielder Tommy Agee, had one of the great four-man pitching rotations of the decade as well as a young pitcher who was used out of the bullpen then went to become one of the all-time greats.

Here is today’s question: Name the pitcher and future all-time great who began his career in the Miracle Mets bullpen.

Yesterday’s answer: Matt Holliday (.340 in ‘07), Carlos Gonzalez (.336 in ‘10), Michael Cuddyer (.331 in ‘13) and Justin Morneau (.319 in ‘14) are the former Rockies batting champs.
