Fairview Heights angler places third at FLW tournament
Rob Crane, of Fairview Heights, placed third out of 190 anglers at the Fishing League Worldwide Costa Series tournament in Russelville, Arkansas held March 31-April 2.
It was Crane's second Top 10 finish in an FLW event and came with a $4,800 prize. The winner, Drew Sagely of Rogers, Arkansas, earned $1,000 check and a new Ranger bass boat valued at $27,000.
"At the end of the second day, I was sitting in second place," Crane said. "I hoped to make that move into first place and get that bass boat, but it didn't happen."

Crane said he's been competing in Illinois Bass Angler Association tournaments for years and entered FLW tournaments in the bass division. He "stepped up his game" to the Costa Series events for the first time last weekend.
Only the top 10 after day two advanced to the final round on April 2. Crane made the cut with seven fish with more than 20 pounds of bass. He caught just two fish on day three weighing in at 3 pounds, 8 ounces.
"Against 190 other guys, I felt like I did pretty good," he said.
Crane returns to the second event of the 2016 FLW Costa Series April 28 at Kentucky Lake.
