Cougars release schedules for cross country

SIUE men’s and women’s cross country released the 2016 fall schedule which features the SIUE John Flamer Invitational on the home course.

The Cougars are returning competitors at all four regular season meets.

“This year’s schedule will provide ample opportunities for our student-athletes to compete against some of the best competition in the Midwest,” said SIUE Head Coach Scott Block. “We wanted to go to meets that are competitive and where the student-athletes are comfortable running and have had success in the past.”

The season kicks off with the EIU Walt Crawford Open Sept. 2, and continues with the Illinois State Country Financial Invitational Sept. 9.

The fifth annual SIUE John Flamer Invitational, honoring the first-ever coach of the program, will be held Oct. 1 during Homecoming weekend.

“We are excited to be hosting the John Flamer Invitational,” said Block. “Home competitions like the John Flamer give the student-athletes an opportunity to compete in front of their family, classmates, friends, and the community to show off all of their hard work.”

The Cougars will then return to the Bradley Pink Classic Oct. 14.

The Ohio Valley Championships will be held Oct. 29 in Nashville, Tennessee, followed by the NCAA Regionals Nov. 11 in Iowa City, Iowa.
