McKendree men’s bowling ranked No. 1

The McKendree University men’s bowling has taken over the top spot in the online team ranking system at collegebowling.com.

The Bearcats moved past Lincoln Memorial University recently into first place in the ranking released late last week. Saint Ambrose University sits right behind McKendree in second place, following closely by Lincoln Memorial in third place. Robert Morris University (Ill.) and Grand View University round out the top five.

McKendree is off to another strong start in 2018-19, posting three tournament victories over the first two months of action. The Bearcats captured top honors at the Midwest Bowling Championships in early October before following up three weeks later with a tournament title at the Lions Classic. McKendree wrapped up the first half of its season by winning the National Collegiate Team Match Games that the Bearcats hosted at St. Clair Bowl in Fairview Heights.

Thanks to its move to the top spot, the McKendree men’s bowling program becomes the third McKendree team in the last week to be ranked No. 1 in its respective sport. Women’s bowling and bass fishing also grabbed first place in their ratings over the last several days.

McKendree will return to action Jan. 12-13 at the Roto Grip Eagles Baker Challenge in Addison, Illinois. The Bearcats will also host another event during the regular season, the McKendree Baker Challenge, Feb. 2-3 at St. Clair Bowl.
