Lindenwood Belleville men’s basketball drops fourth straight

The Lindenwood University-Belleville Men’s basketball team played host to the Park University Pirates Thursday evening in Lynx Arena, and fell by a score of 66-60.

The Lynx battled the Pirates throughout the game and led by four halfway through the first half. The remainder of the first half seesawed back and forth before the Pirates held a 36-32 lead going into the half.

The Lynx kept battling with the Pirates back and forth throughout the second half, but a couple offensive rebounds by the Pirates was the difference in the game, and the Lynx fell by six points.

”I am so proud of our guys’ effort tonight,” coach Vince Meninno said. “We really battled hard for all 40 minutes. We have to pick our heads up and get ready to play on Saturday. We feel like we can play with most teams in the league. We have to execute and do all the little things right.”

Throughout the game, the Lynx shot 47 percent from the floor, 24 percent from beyond the three-point line, and 57 percent from the free throw line. Four Lynx scored double-digits: Rodarius Mitchell (14), Jalal Johnson (12), Shakari Hawkins (11), and JC Moll (10), and freshman forward Jorge Lazaro led the team in rebounds with seven.

The Lynx will travel to St. Louis Saturday afternoon as they prepare to face the Harris-Stowe State University Hornets beginning at 5 pm.
