Columbia High grad is junior college All-American

Columbia High graduate Alexis Royer has been named a junior college softball All-American following an outstanding sophomore season at Parkland College in Champaign.

Royer was named first-team National Junior College Athletic Association Division II All-American by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association and a third-team All-American by the NJCAA. Royer, the daughter of former St. Louis Cardinals player Stan Royer and Lauri Royer, also earned All-Region and All-Conference honors for Parkland.

The sophomore outfielder led Parkland in virtually every offensive category, hitting .408 with 14 doubles, 14 home runs, 57 RBIs and 71 hits. She also had a .460 on- base percentage and .730 slugging average.

Parkland finished 21-30 this spring, losing 1-0 to Lewis & Clark in the regional tournament.

Royer hit .504 as a senior at Columbia in 2013 with 22 doubles, seven home runs and 47 RBIs.
