McKendree, GLVC, spring sports seasons canceled

The Great Lakes Valley Conference announced Friday that it has canceled the remainder of the 2020 season, following a unanimous vote by its university presidents.

The GLVC announced last Friday, March 13, that in addition to canceling the remaining 2020 GLVC Championships, it was suspending all countable activities related to intercollegiate athletics due to concerns of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

Members of the GLVC include McKendree University, William Jewell, Rockhurst, Missouri S&T, Truman State, Maryville, Lindenwood,. Missouri-St. Louis, Southwest Baptist, Drury, Lewis, Quincy, Illinois-Springfield, Indianapolis, Southern Indiana and Bellarmine.

The GLVC had set April 6 as a date to review the status of the league suspension of all countable athletically-related activities, including competition and practices, but no longer felt formal activities could resume on member campuses in light of recent developments in this public-health crisis, according to a press release from the league.
