Lynx get buried by early avalanche of points at St. Ambrose
The St. Ambrose Fighting Bees raced out to a 38-0 lead and never looked backen route to pinning a 48-26 loss on the Lindenwood-Belleville Lynx on Saturday at Brady Street Stadium in Davenport, Iowa.
St. Ambrose scored on seven of its eight first half possessions, including four touchdown passes by quarterback Patrick Smith, to build a 45-7 lead by the break.
LU-B’s lone first half score came on a 65-yard interception return by Quincy Foster just past the midway point of the second quarter, which made the score 38-7.
With the outcome decided, the Lynx did show some life late in the game getting three fourth-quarter touchdown passes from quarterback Tarean Austin.
Austin connected with J.T. Washington on scoring plays of 6 and 8 yards. The game’s final touchdown came on a 57-yard pass from Austin to Walter Jackson with 2:15 remaining in the game.
