Lynx will play Bellevue University in NAIA national soccer meet

The Lindenwood University-Belleville Lynx will meet their next test in the form of the Bruins of Bellevue University in the round of 16 in the NAIA National Tournament for men’s soccer.

Having advanced further than any other team of any sport thus far in LU–Belleville history, the Lynx (15-7) will look to continue that run with a 5:30 CST start Tuesday in Fort Lauderdale Florida against the 12-3-4 Bruins.

LU-Belleville is currently riding a six-game winning streak and have won 9 of its last 10 games coming into the game. They have only given up two goals during the six game winning streak, one in each of their last two games.

The Bruins have won four games in a row, three of which have come in postseason play.

Junior Leonardo Ferri leads the Lynx attack with 11 goals and 27 points. Sophomore goalie Nicolas Nicolaci allowed 19 goals in 20 starts and has recorded 46 saves. His save percentage is .708. He has eight shutouts.

Both teams came away with upsets in the opening round as the Lynx took down No. 9 University of Northwestern Ohio with a 2-1 win.

The Bruins defeated No. 6 Science & Arts of Oklahoma 1-0.
