Lynx icemen first in region ranking
The Lindenwood University-Belleville men’s ice hockey team remains in first place in the second American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) Division II Central Region ranking of the 2015-16 season. The Lynx were ranked first in the initial poll and have not looked back with an overall record of 18-4-0 record.
The latest ACHA DII Poll comes after the team split an intense series at second-ranked Grand Valley State in which both teams exchanged 2-1 wins.
LU-Belleville continued to post impressive stats in the fall 2015 semester on both offense and defense. The Lynx scored 111 total goals for an average of 5.04 goals per-game while opponents scored 57 goals against for an average of 2.59 goals against per-game.
The rankings help determine the field for the 16-team ACHA Division II National Championship Tournament. The latest ranking was the second of five during the 2015-16 season. The top two ranked teams from each of the four regions in the final ranking will receive automatic bids to nationals. The third through 10th seeds in each region will battle for the remaining national tournament berths at Regional Playoffs.
The Lynx will return to action after the holiday break against the Lindenwood-St. Charles at 8 p.m. on January 13 at the St. Louis Ice Zone.
