SIUE senior sets record with throw in discus

SIUE women’s track and field senior Megan Lauzon set the SIUE record in the discus at the Joey Haines Invitational with her mark of 159 feet, 6 inches.

Lauzon earned a fifth-place finish with the throw. She also set a new personal best in the hammer with a mark of 155-9.

Greg Block and Keith Meyer also added to their records at SIUE. Block becomes No. 2 all-time in the hammer throw with a mark of 191-7.5, surpassing his brother and current head coach Scott Block.

Meyer ran his first 10K at the WashU Invite in St. Louis, becoming No. 2 all-time at SIUE and finishing first in a time of 30:37.12.

On the women's side, Jessica Oranika finished second in the 400 meters in 55.90.

Erin Kennedy and Allie Sweatt both competed at the WashU Invite and set personal bests in the 10K. Kennedy ran a 46-second best at 37:19.01, while Sweatt completed the race in 38:10.96.

Haley Miller ran a best in the 5K with a time of 8:17.51, finishing sixth. Brittney Gibbs recorded a personal best in the long jump at 18-2.75.

For the men, Matt O’Connor earned a first-place finish in the 800 meters with a time of 1:56.79.

Julian Harvey increased his SIUE record in the triple jump with a best of 50-3.5, finishing second.

Anthony Holshouser and Tyler Owens both set personal bests in the 10K at WashU with marks of 32:48.70 and 32:17.43, respectively. Scott Woodard added to the distance team's results with a personal best in the 1500 meters at 4:12.00.

Alec Dutton recorded two personal bests in the hammer (158-1) and the discus (150-3). Nick Matthews bettered his mark in the javelin with a throw of 177-7.

Bobby Kaluza set a personal best in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.41.
