McKendree University to hold basketball camps for boys in July

The 13th annual McKendree University Basketball Camps will be held in July at Mel Price Convocation Center in Lebanon.

The camp director is 14th-year McKendree assistant men’s basketball coach Eric Echelbarger.

A Skills Camp will be held July 12-15 for boys in grades 5 through 9. The camp will be from 9 a.m. to noon each day and the cost is $85. Emphasis will be on shooting, ballhandling, passing, skills competition and teamwork and sportsmanship.

A Competitive Edge Camp will be held July 12-15 for boys in grades 5 through 9. The camp will be from 1:30 to 5 p.m. and the cost is $85. Shooting, dribbling and passing competition will be held, as well as competitive games. Teamwork and sportsmanship will be emphasized.

A Guard Camp will be held July 18-22 for boys in grades 5 through 9. The camp will be from 9 a.m. to noon and the cost is $85. Ballhandling, passing, leadership on the court and recognizing situations, teamwork and sportsmanship will be points of emphasis. Skills competition will be held.

A Shooting Camp will be held July 18-22 for boys in grades 5 through 9. The camp will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Emphasis will be on proper shooting form, hand positioning, body balance and follow-through. Individual shooting workouts will be held, as will shooting competition.

Another Skills Camp will be held July 25-29 for boys in grades 1 through 4. The camp will be from 9 a.m. to noon. Emphasis will be on shooting, ballhandling, passing, skills competition and teamwork and sportsmanship.

Players also can attend full-day camps during July 12-15 and July 18-22. Price is $170. There is a one-hour break in between camps, and campers can stay in the gym to eat lunch. Campers can bring their own lunch or purchase one in the camp store.

All campers will receive a T-shirt. Medals and basketballs will be awarded for character, attitude and performance.

Interested parents can register their children online at mbasketball.mckendreecamps.com. Checks made out to McKendree University also will be accepted for those who don’t register online. Parents must complete a camp enrollment form.
