LU-Belleville’s Winn honored by NAIA in softball
For the first time in her collegiate career, Lindenwood University-Belleville softball player Taylor Winn has earned NAIA All-American Second Team honors.
Winn, a Herrin, Ill., native picks up the award after having a career year on the rubber and at the plate. She’s the first Lady Lynx player to collect NAIA All-American honors, while including the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA), she’s the programs ninth.
Inside the circle, Winn set new single-season records in wins (21), complete games (23), strikeouts (166) and ERA (2.08). With those kind of statistics she was named to the American Midwest Conference (AMC) First Team and collected AMC Pitcher of the Year honors.
At the plate, Winn filled up the stat sheet with her .414 clip, 65 hits, 32 runs scored, 11 doubles, 14 homers, 55 RBI, 120 stolen bases and a slugging percentage of .764. Her batting average, home runs and RBI marks are new single-season records.
