Henderson places 22nd in discus at NCAA Division I track and field championships

University of Louisville junior and former Edwardsville High School athlete Emmonnie Henderson capped another solid season with a 22nd place finish in the discus on Saturday at the NCAA Division I Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Eugene, Ore.

A former Class 3A state champion in the discus while competing at Edwardsville, Henderson had a top throw of 162 feet, 11 inches on Saturday at Hayward Field to earn third team All-American honors.

A first team All-American a year ago in the discus when she placed third, Henderson earned second team status in the shot put on Thursday when she placed 13th.

Former Carlinville High School standout Kelsey Card, now at senior at the University of Wisconsin, won the discus with a throw of 208 feet, 5 inches.
