Forward from Graceland transfers to play for Lynx
The Lindenwood University-Belleville men’s basketball team continued to improve its roster as head coach Scott Spinner and his coaching staff announced the signing of transfer David Shepard.
“We are ecstatic to have David in the program,” said assistant coach Evan Forhetz. “He’s a rare cerebral breed and high character guy that can shoot from anywhere on the court. He also surprises you with strength and athleticism. With his outstanding and decorated career thus far, he will be called on to step in and lead right away. David is the exact puzzle piece we needed.”
Shepard, comes to LU-Belleville after spending a season at Graceland University. The 6 feet, 7 inch forward was dominant for the Yellow Jackets during the 2015-16 campaign averaging 13.5 points and six rebounds per game. Those numbers got him named to the Heart of America Athletic All-Conference Team.
Prior to Graceland, Shepard spent his freshman and sophomore seasons at Viterbo University. In two years with the Hawks, Shepard averaged 15.4 points, 7.7 rebounds and shot 54.8 percent from the field. He also sank an impressive 40.6 percent of his shots from beyond-the-arc. He went on to be named to the Midwest Collegiate All-Conference Team twice, including earning First Team honors his sophomore year.
Overall in his career, Shepard has totaled 1,341 points, 599 rebounds and owns a 38.3 shooting percentage from downtown.
