N.C. State men’s basketball guard Marcus Hill confirmed Wednesday night that he would return to the program next season.

Hill, a Bowling Green transfer, joined the program in the offseason. He spent one season with the Falcons after playing on the junior college level.

An NCAA ruling this season will not count junior college participation against players whose eligibility was set to expire this season.

Following N.C. State’s 71-63 senior night win, Hill said he’d already thought about taking advantage of the additional year.

“I’m blessed to get that year back,” Hill said. “I’m going to take that year back for sure.”

When asked whether he will spend that year at N.C. State, he said, “Yeah, for sure.”

Hill said the senior night festivities were just a practice for him, adding that it was a little bit awkward, because he’ll do it again.

“I was telling my mom, ‘We’ll have to do this again next year,’” Hill said. “She’s happy, though. She’s happy she got to do it.”

Wolfpack head coach Kevin Keatts said Hill has improved this season. He averaged 20.5 points and 5 rebounds per game at Bowling Green.

Hill averaged a team-leading 11.6 points, 3.7 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game. His rebounding increased to 4.4 per game in ACC games.

He’s scored in double figures in 19 games this season, including three 20-point outings. He contributed five or more rebounds in 10 contests, including a season-high nine boards against North Carolina on Jan. 11.

“Obviously, it’s a tougher league to play in. He’s made the adjustment,” Keatts said. “Where can he get better? I think in the offseason, just continuing to rep his shot. It’s not bad, but more so having confidence in it. I think he’s our leading rebounder in conference play. He can score around the basket. I just think he’s got to expand his game a little.”

Hill said this season, though it’s not over yet, has meant a lot to the Rockford, Illinois, guard.

“It’s my first Power Five school, so I appreciate them giving me a chance,” Hill said. “Really love the whole environment, my teammates; love everybody around here.”
