Belleville West remains unbeaten in conference games
The Belleville West Maroons remained unbeaten in Southwestern Conference play following a 7-3 win over the Alton Redbirds in high school baseball Tuesday.
The Maroons have now won 12 games in a row.
The Redbirds scored three runs in the third inning and get off to an early lead, but the Maroons responded by scoring four runs in the fifth and three more in the sixth.
Jack Lanxon was the winning pitcher, allowing two hits and three runs in nearly a complete-game effort before he was replaced in the seventh inning. Senior infielder Logan Betz went 3 for 4 with three RBIs and sophomore Will Lanxon finished 3 for 4 at the plate with a double.
Adam Stilts suffered the loss for Alton while Mike Hampton went 1 for 3 and Steven Nguyen finished 1 for 4 with an RBI to lead the Redbirds.
Belleville West (17-6) next play Collinsville at home at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday. Alton (15-11) next plays a doubleheader at home against Valmeyer beginning at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.
