Central outlasts rival Mater Dei in PKs

The Central Cougars narrowly defeated the Mater Dei Knights 2-1 after penalty kicks.

Brier Weiss scored for Central on a pass from Drew Wesselmann in the first half. Nathan Perkes, who also scored in the first half, scored the Knights only goal. Both teams would not see the back of the goal until after two overtimes and then penalty kicks.

Hunter Vetter earned the win allowing only one goal for a .833 save percentage. Nathan Kuhl took the loss and a .714 save percentage saving five out of seven shots.

The Cougars (4-1) will travel to Columbia (6-0-1) on Sept. 5. The Knights (5-3) play Gibault (3-2-2) on Sept. 5.
