O’Fallon girls roll to regional golf championship

The O’Fallon girls golf team dominated in Class 2A regional play Wednesday as it has throughout the regular season.

Led by Alyssa and Briana McMinn, who both shot a 6-under-par 77, all four qualifying golfers broke the 80-stroke mark to give the Panthers another regional championship at Tamarack.

Emily Marrs and Brooke Boatman each shot 79 for O’Fallon, which finished 20 strokes better than second-place Edwardsville.

Edwardsville, behind tournament medalist Addasyn Zeller’s 74, and Belleville East also advanced to the Sacred-Heart Griffin Sectional on Monday at Panther Creek Country Club in Springfield.

Also scoring for Edwardsville were Paige Hamel (83), Sydney Sahuri (84) and Jessica Benson (91). For East, Breanna Haas (84), Hanna Davis (93), Claire Furlow (94) and Grace Basson (103) led the way.

Granite City qualified two individuals for sectionals: Megan Keel (85) and Alexis Schmidtke (99). From Collinsville, Destiny Johnson (87) and Katelyn Schreiber (100) advanced.

Katy Hatley (91) and DeLana Lilly (91), of Mascoutah, also earned individual advancement, as did Belleville West’s Gretchen Rudolf (98).

Team scores: O’Fallon (312), Edwardsville (332), Belleville East (374), Collinsville (383), Mascoutah (395), Marion (402), Belleville West (405), Granite City (407), Triad (434).

Class 1A Gibault Regional

Althoff finished second at the Gibault regional to earn advancement to the Alton Marquette Sectional on Monday at Spencer T. Olin.

Nashville finished in first place at 320, 23 shots ahead of the Crusaders. Alton Marquette also advanced with a third-place finish.

Althoff got a 78 from Tia Kimbrough, a 79 from Megan Lewis, 89 from Matttie Tienan and 97 from Annie Pusa.

Nashville was led by Rachael Kell, who shot a 76. Brooke Tuttle, of Jersyville, was the tournament medalist with a 75. She advances to the sectional tournament as an individual.

Also advancing are Lily Schlemmer (79), of Valmeyer; Mikaela Kossina (85), of Columbia; Remy Heinen (87), of Waterloo; Kenzie Talbert (90), of Marissa; and Chloe Kraus (93), of Okawville.

Team scores: Nasvhille (320), Althoff (343), Marquette (352), Columbia (375), Waterloo (451), Marissa (399), Freeburg (454), Okawville (398), Civic Memorial (374), Valmeyer (453), Roxana (481), Gibault (485).
