More career highs for Liddell, another win for Belleville West
A little over a week after scoring a career-high 39 points, Belleville West senior EJ Liddell took his game to another level and the Maroons to another win on Friday in the Bluegrass state.
Liddell scored 42 points and added 16 rebounds as the defending Class 4A state champion Maroons defeated North Hopkins High School of Madisonville, Kentucky, 77-60, at the Marshall County Hoopsfest.
The double-double is the fourth in five games for Liddell, an Ohio State University commit, who opened the season with a then-career best 39 points against Urbana at the Washington Tournament of Champions.
He’s now averaging 31.6 points, 12 rebounds and 4.2 blocked shots per game.
Liddell made 18 of 26 shots from the field on Friday. Senior Will Shumpert added 10 points for Belleville West (5-0) which takes on Callaway, Mississippi at 5:30 p.m. Saturday at the Marshall County, Kentucky event.
