Poll results: Here’s the high school boys basketball player of the week in southwest Illinois
Lane Otten of Freeburg High School is the winner of the Belleville News-Democrat Boys Player of the Week high school basketball poll, as selected by readers of bnd.com.
In recent high school basketball games, Otten, a junior guard/forward, scored 14 points in win against Gibault, 17 points in win against Wood River and 25 points in a win against Okawville. Otten entered the weekend averaging 14.5 points per game.
Otten tallied 69% of the votes to finish ahead of other BND nominees Daylen Byrd of Belleville West High School, Devin Davis of Collinsville High School, Brady Moore of Breese Central High School, Jack Seibert of Mascoutah High School and Darien Singleton of Mascoutah High School The poll ended at 11:59 p.m. Thursday.
