Poll results: Here’s the high school boys basketball player of the week in southwest Illinois

Caleb Burton of O’Fallon High School is the winner of this week’s Belleville News-Democrat Boys Player of the Week high school basketball poll, as selected by readers of bnd.com.

In recent high school basketball games, Burton, a senior guard, scored 21 points in a win against Granite City, 11 points in a loss against Bolingbrook and 9 points in a loss against Collinsville. Burton entered the weekend averaging 12.4 points per game for the 21-6 Panthers.

Burton tallied 94% of the votes to finish ahead of other BND nominees Devin Davis of Collinsville High School, Hayden Hoffmann of Carlyle High School, Dylan Murphy of Columbia High School and Jordan Pickett of Belleville East High School. The poll ended at 11:59 p.m. Thursday.
