To be clear, this poll is not scientific. In fact, we invite you to vote as many times as you want. It’s all for fun, BND readers. People also may submit the same athlete from week to week.

We are planning to post the results later this week after the poll closes.

Here are this week’s nominees:

  • Shannon Dowell, O’Fallon High School, junior, G. Scored 27 points in regional win against Belleville East and 8 points in a victory against Collinsville in the regional championship game. She recently eclipsed the 1,000-point plateau and finished the season averaging 16.4 points and 6.6 rebounds per game for the 25-6 Panthers.
  • Elle Evans, Edwardsville High School, senior, G/F. In recent postseason games, scored 20 points in win against Pekin, 23 points win against Alton and 8 points in win against O’Fallon. Averaging 14.8 points and 5.9 rebounds per game for the 29-4 Tigers.

  • Sydney Harris, Edwardsville High School, senior, G/F. In recent postseason games scored 25 points in win against Pekin, 20 points in win against Alton and 25 points in win against O’Fallon. Averaging 23.8 points and 7.6 rebounds per game for the 29-4 Tigers.
  • Karsen Jany, Columbia High School, junior, G. Scored 15 points in a regional win against Red Bud. Finished the season averaging 13.5 points and 6.3 rebounds per game for the 16-16 Eagles.

  • Kailynn Kruep, Mater Dei High School, junior, G. Helped 17-12 Knights advance to sectional competition. Averaging 10.7 points per game.
