Poll results: Here’s the high school boys basketball player of the week in southwest Illinois

Devin Davis of Collinsville High School is the winner of this week’s Belleville News-Democrat Boys Player of the Week high school basketball poll, as selected by readers of bnd.com.

In recent high school basketball games, Davis, a senior guard, helped Collinsville capture a regional championship by scoring 7 points, grabbing 9 rebounds and dishing out 6 assists against Belleville East. Davis then posted 9 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists in a 34-32 sectional loss to Quincy.

Davis finished the season averaging 10.8 points, 3.9 rebounds and 2.84 assists per game for the 26-6 Kahoks.

Davis tallied 98% of the votes to finish ahead of other BND nominees Rini Harris of O’Fallon High School, Brady Moore of Breese Central High School, Jordan Pickett of Belleville East High School and Jack Steckler of Columbia High School. The poll ended at 11:59 p.m. Thursday.
