Poll results: Here’s the high school boys basketball player of the week in southwest Illinois

Rini Harris of O’Fallon High School is the winner of this week’s Belleville News-Democrat Boys Player of the Week high school basketball poll, as selected by readers of bnd.com.

Harris finished the high school basketball season averaging 9.4 points and 3.9 rebounds per game for the 23-8 Panthers, who lost to Quincy in the regional championship. The sophomore guard’s high point total this season was 19 against Mascoutah on Dec. 14.

Harris tallied 40% of the votes to finish ahead of other BND nominees Christian Jones of East St. Louis High School, Jordan Pickett of Belleville East High School and Macaleab Rich of East St. Louis High School. The poll ended at 11:59 p.m. Thursday.
