To be clear, this poll is not scientific. In fact, we invite you to vote as many times as you want. It’s all for fun, BND readers. People also may submit the same athlete from week to week.

Here are the candidates:
- Breese Central High School: 28-6 overall mark. Went 9-1 in Cahokia Conference to capture league crown. Won regional and reached sectional championship.
Collinsville High School: 26-6 overall mark. Went 9-2 in Southwestern Conference, good for second place. Won regional before losing in sectional semifinals.
Columbia High School: 23-9 overall mark. Went 7-3 in Cahokia Conference, good for second place. Lost in regional semifinals.
East St. Louis High School: 27-6 overall mark. Went 10-0 in Southwestern Conference to claim league title. Won regional, won sectional and reached super-sectional.
- Gibault High School: 22-10 overall mark. Won regional and advanced to sectional competition.
Mascoutah High School: 23-8 overall mark. Went 10-0 in Mississippi Valley Conference to claim league title, lost in regional semifinals.
Nashville High School: 30-4 overall mark. Went 8-0 in Mississippi Division of River-to-River Conference to claim title. Won regional, sectional and super-sectional before capturing IHSA Class 2A state championship.
- O’Fallon High School: 25-6 overall mark. Went 8-4 in Southwestern Conference, good for third place. Reached regional championship game.
