Southwestern Illinois players earn spot on AP all-state boys basketball team
The Illinois Associated Press announced its IHSA Class 1A-4A All-State boys’ basketball teams as voted on by a statewide panel of sports writers, broadcasters and internet-site reporters. All media members covering high school basketball in the state were eligible to nominate and vote for players.
Here is a look at local players who landed on the teams:
Class 2A
Honorable mention
- Brady Moore, Breese Central (6-4, Sr., F). Moore averaged 16.1 points per game for a Cougars team that went 28-6 overall, 9-1 in the Cahokia Conference to claim the league title, won a regional and reached the sectional championship.
Class 3A
First team
- Christian Jones, East St. Louis (6-5, Sr., PG). Jones averaged 15.5 points per game for a Flyers team that went 27-6 overall, 10-0 in the Southwestern Conference to claim the league title, won a regional and won a sectional before losing in the super-sectional.
Second team
- Macaleab Rich, East St. Louis (6-6, Jr., G/F). Rich averaged 19.2 points per game for a Flyers team that went 27-6 overall, 10-0 in the Southwestern Conference to claim the league title, won a regional and won a sectional before losing in the super-sectional.
