Poll results: Here’s the high school softball player of the week in southwest Illinois
Emily Allen of Belleville West High School is the winner of this week’s Belleville News-Democrat Softball Player of the Week high school poll, as selected by readers of bnd.com.
Entering action Friday, Allen was batting .513 with 1 home run and 7 RBI. In a recent doubleheader sweep of Highland, Allen went 5-for-8 with 3 RBI.
Allen tallied 28% of the votes to finish just ahead of Mackenzie Young of Collinsville High School, who secured 27% of the votes. Other BND nominees this week included Avery Budde of Breese Central High School, Audrey Clark of Mater Dei High School, Kylee Crowder of Belleville East High School, Nicole Edmiaston of Freeburg High School, Adi Foutch of Breese Central High School, Julianna Huber of Breese Central High School and Aileen Walker of Belleville East High School. The poll ended at 11:59 p.m. Thursday.
To be clear, this poll is not scientific. In fact, we invite you to vote as many times as you want. It’s all for fun, BND readers.
