The metro-east girls basketball season continued with a some close games Thursday night.

Here is a quick snapshot of the outcomes.

Alton vs. O’Fallon

The Redbirds beat the visiting Panthers 40-36. Alton stays undefeated at 7-0 and 2-0 in the Southwestern Conference. O’Fallon dropped to 7-2, 2-1.

Look ahead: Both teams resume action at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 15, as Alton hosts Belleville East and O’Fallon visits Collinsville.

Edwardsville vs. Belleville East

The Tigers improved to 3-5 overall and 1-2 in the SWC with a 44-36 win against the Lancers on Thursday night. Belleville East dropped to 2-4, 0-2.

Look ahead: Both teams are back in action Tuesday, Dec. 13, as Edwardsville hosts Lift for Life at 6:30 p.m. and East entertains Althoff at 7:30 p.m.

Mascoutah vs Waterloo

The Indians beat the Bulldogs 62-54 to improve to 7-3 overall and 2-2 in the Mississippi Valley Conference. Waterloo dropped to 5-3, 1-2.

Look ahead: Mascoutah will host Freeburg at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 12. Waterloo entertains O’Fallon at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 13.

Breese Central vs Roxana

The Cougars dominated the Shells 60-22 to improve 5-3 overall and 2-0 in the Mississippi Division of the Cahokia Conference. Roxana dropped to 2-5, 0-2.

Kaydence Schroeder led Breese Central with 14 points and Taylor Trame added 10 points.

Look ahead: Breese Central visits Columbia at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 15.

Highland vs Jerseyville

On Thursday, the Bulldogs improved to 10-1 overall and 3-0 in the MVC after winning big 58-32 against the Panthers. Jerseyville dropped to 5-5, 0-4..

Grace Wilke led Highland with 18 points and Larissa Taylor chipped with 14 in the win.

Look ahead: Highland will host Mater Dei at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 12, and Jerseyville with entertain Waterloo at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 19.
