Here’s a recap of Althoff-West and 6 other local girls basketball games from Tuesday
Monday night saw another full slate of girls basketball games at metro-east gyms.
Here is a brief recap of some of the key games.
Althoff at Belleville West
The Crusaders won the the showdown between Belleville schools, rolling to a 59-36 win against the Maroons.
Charleece Davis led Althoff with 17 points, while Emilee Travnicek posted 14 points. Olivia Anderson led West with 13 points. The Crusaders improved to 7-2 and the Maroons dropped to 0-8.
West actually led 13-8 after one quarter, but Althoff outscored the Maroons 36-13 the next two quarters to pull away.
Look ahead: Both teams will play Thursday, Dec. 15, as Althoff visits Centralia at 6 p.m. and West hosts East St. Louis at 7:30 p.m.
Triad at Collinsville
Behind 20 points from Jenna Scheller, the Kahoks eased past the Knights 50-43.
Megan Janson chipped in 13 points for Collinsville, which improved to 7-3. Triad dropped to 1-8.
Look ahead: Both teams resume action Thursday, Dec. 15, as the Kahoks host O’Fallon at 7:30 p.m. and the Knights entertain Highland at 6 p.m.
Mater Dei at Highland
The Knights improved to 8-2 following a 56-42 win against the Bulldogs, who dropped to 10-2.
Look ahead: Highland visits Triad at 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 15. The Knights are off until Monday, Dec. 26, when they open holiday tournament action.
Alton at Civic Memorial
The Eagles knocked the Redbirds from the ranks of the unbeaten, posting a 61-42 victory.
Civic Memorial improved to 8-2, while Alton dropped to 8-1.
Look ahead: Both teams are back in action at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 15, as CM visits Waterloo and Alton hosts Belleville East.
Freeburg at Mascoutah
The Midgets improved to 6-4 following a 41-36 win against Mascoutah, which dropped to 7-4.
Look ahead: Freeburg visits Salem at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 15. Mascoutah faces Quincy Notre Dame at 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 16, at John Wood Community College in Quincy.
Columbia vs. Valmeyer
The Eagles defeated Valmeyer 76-24 in a tournament at Gibault.
Karsen Jany paced Columbia with 20 points, while Jordan Holten had 15 points and Sam Schmuke posted 13 points and Brooke Miller led Valmeyer with 12 points.
The Eagles improved to 6-3, while the Pirates dropped to 2-5.
Look ahead: Both teams resume tournament action Wednesday, Dec. 14, as Columbia faces the Waterloo JV team at 6 p.m. and Valmeyer plays New Athens at 7:30 p.m.
Dupo at Sparta
The Tigers dropped to 5-3 following a 50-25 loss to the Bulldogs.
Look ahead: Dupo hosts New Athens at 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 15.
