Waterloo, Columbia girls win, Triad boys prevail. Here’s a recap of 6 games from Monday

The metro-east boys and girls basketball seasons continued with several games Monday night.

Here is a quick view of some of the outcomes.

GIRLS

Mount Vernon 61, Althoff 56

The Crusaders dropped to 12-6 overall and 3-2 in the South Seven Conference following a five-point loss to the Rams, who improved to 14-4, 4-0.

Look ahead: Althoff hosts Alton Marquette at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 18.

Waterloo 56, Collinsville 50

The Bulldogs posted a six-point non-conference victory against the Kahoks.

Waterloo is now 12-6. Collinsville dropped to 10-8.

Norah Gum led the Bulldogs with 20 points, while Sam Lindhorst contributed 18 points.

Look ahead: Both teams resume action at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 12, as Waterloo hosts Triad and Collinsville visits Belleville East..

Mascoutah 55, Belleville West 35

The Indians eased their way to a 20-point non-conference victory against the Maroons.

Sophia Loden led Mascoutah with 20 points and Khamyri Jordan chipped in 11 points. Keyara Baerga-Plumey paced Belleville West with 11 points.

The Indians are now 12-7, while the Maroons fell to 2-13.

Look ahead: Both teams play at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 12, as Mascoutah hosts Highland and Belleville West entertains O’Fallon.

Columbia 49, Centralia 29

The Eagles coasted to a 20-point non-conference victory against the Annies.

Karsen Jany led Columbia with 20 points, while Sam Schmuke added 12 points and Jordan Holten contributed 10 points.

The Eagles improved to 13-7, while the Centralia dropped to 3-11.

Look ahead: Columbia visits Wood River at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 12.

Gibault 54, Valmeyer 34

The Hawks rolled to a 20-point victory while improving to 12-5. The Pirates dropped to 5-11.

Look ahead: Gibault entertains Roxana at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 11. Valmeyer travels to New Athens at 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 12.

BOYS

Triad, 55 Freeburg 38

Behind 19 points from Tyler Thompson, the Knights rolled to a 17-point non-conference victory against the Midgets.

McGrady Noyes added 15 points and AJ Mills chipped in 11 points for Triad, which improved to 13-5.

Freeburg dropped to 10-7.

Look ahead: Both teams play at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 13, as Freeburg hosts Roxana and Triad visits Waterloo.
