Here’s a look at some of Friday night’s results around the metro-east hoops circuit
The metro-east boys basketball season continued with several key games Friday.
Here is a quick view of some of the outcomes.
Southwestern Conference
Belleville West 65, Alton 45
The Maroons rolled to a 20-point victory against the Redbirds.
Brandon Scott led Belleville West with 25 points, while Daylen Byrd posted 11 points and Myles Liddell and Jordan Lacey scored 10 points apiece.
West improved to 13-14 overall and 3-7 in the Southwestern Conference, while the Redbirds dropped to 5-22, 0-11.
Look ahead: Both teams resume action Tuesday, Feb. 14, as the Redbirds visit MICDS at 7 p.m. and the Maroons host Belleville East at 7:30 p.m.
East St. Louis 57, Edwardsville 38 (at Lindenwood-Belleville)
The Flyers rolled to a 19-point victory against the Tigers.
East St. Louis improved to 19-6 overall and 7-3 in the SWC. Edwardsville dropped to 19-9, 6-4.
Look ahead: Both teams resume action at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 14, as the Tigers host Collinsville and the Flyers visits O’Fallon.
Cahokia Conference (Mississippi Division)
Columbia 70, Roxana 42
The Eagles cruised to a 28-point win against the Shells.
Dylan Murphy paced the Eagles with 24 points, while Jack Steckler added 18 points and Brody Landgraf posted 11 points. Aidan Briggs led Roxana with 18 points.
Columbia improved to 26-3 overall and 7-1 in league action. Roxana fell to 10-19, 0-9.
Look ahead: Both teams resume action at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 14, as the Eagles host Freeburg and the Shells entertain Salem.
Breese Central 57, Freeburg 54 (OT)
The Cougars slipped past the Midgets in overtime.
Cody Dickshot led Breese Central with 17 points, while Chase Lewis added 11 points. Caleb Weber led Freeburg with 18 points, while Lane Otten posted 15 points and Cole Stuart posted 13 points.
Breese Central improved to 24-4 overall and 8-0 in league action, while Freeburg dropped to 20-10, 6-3.
Look ahead: Both teams resume action at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 14, as the Cougars host Wood River and the Midgets visit Columbia.
Mississippi Valley Conference
Highland 65, Civic Memorial 44
The Bulldogs rolled past the Eagles while improving to 19-9 overall and 5-4 in the MVC. CM dropped to 13-15, 3-6.
Look ahead: Both teams play Tuesday, Feb. 14, as the Bulldogs visit Gibault at 6:15 p.m. and the Eagles host Alton Marquette at 7:30 p.m.
Triad at Mascoutah
The Knights posted an eight-point road victory against the Indians.
Triad is now 23-6 overall and 8-1 in league play. Mascoutah dropped to 20-9, 6-3.
Look ahead: The Indians host SLUH at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 14. The Knights entertain Jerseyville at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 16.
Waterloo 58, Jerseyville 51
The Bulldogs improved to 8-21 overall and 1-8 in MVC action following a seven-point win against the Panthers.
Jerseyville dropped to 14-14, 4-5.
Look ahead: The Panthers travel to Jacksonville at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 14. The Bulldogs visit Highland at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 16.
Cahokia Conference (Illinois Division)
Red Bud 61, Carlyle 50
The Musketeers eased to an 11-point win against the Indians to improve to 21-8 overall and 7-2 in league play.
The Indians dropped to 8-20, 1-8.
Look ahead: Both teams resume action at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 14, as Red Bud hosts Sparta and Carlyle entertains Okawville.
South Seven Conference
Granite City 55, Althoff 48
The Warriors downed the Crusaders on the road.
Granite CIty improved to 15-14 while Althoff fell to 8-21.
Look ahead: The Crusaders are gearing up for postseason play while the Warriors host Mater Dei at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 17.
Other notables:
- Collinsville (19-9, 6-4 in the Southwestern Conference) was idle Friday night. After taking on Miller Career on Saturday, the Kahoks will visit Edwardsville at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 14.
- Gibault (22-6) was idle Friday night. After taking on cross-town rival Waterloo on Saturday, the Hawks will host Highland at 6:15 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 14.
- Mater Dei (13-14) was idle Friday night. After facing Highland on Saturday, the Knights will visit Granite City at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 17.
