The metro-east girls basketball season continued with several key regional championship games Thursday night.
Here is a quick view of some of the outcomes.
O’Fallon 63, Belleville East 20, Class 4A
The Panthers eased to the Belleville East Regional title with a 43-point victory against the Lancers.
Shannon Dowell led O’Fallon with 17 points. O’Fallon improved to 29-4 overall while Belleville East concludes their season at 10-17.
Look ahead: O’Fallon hosts Alton at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 21, in the sectional semifinals.
Alton 58, Quincy 31, Class 4A
The Redbirds secured the Alton Regional crown thanks to a 27-point victory over the Blue Devils.
Laila Blakeny led Alton with 19 points. Alton improved to 31-1 overall while Quincy ended the season at 20-12.
Look ahead: Alton visits O’Fallon at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 21, in the sectional semfinals.
Mater Dei 57, Althoff 44, Class 2A
The Knights coasted to a 13-point victory over the Crusaders in the Althoff Regional championship.
Mater Dei improved to 22-7 while Althoff finished the season 19-10.
Look ahead: Mater Dei advances to the DuQuoin Sectional and will face the winner of the Masaac County Regional at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 21.
East St. Louis 50, Mascoutah 47, Class 3A
The Flyers ended the Indians’ 14-game winning streak following a three-point victory in the Mascoutah Regional title game.
Shakara McCline led East St. Louis with 28 points. East St. Louis improved to 13-20 overall while Mascoutah ended the season at 23-8.
Look ahead: East St. Louis faces Mount Vernon at the Centralia Sectional at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 21.
Breese Central 37, Freeburg 23, Class 2A
The Cougars got past the Midgets by 14 points to secure the Sparta Regional title.
Breese Central improves to 20-11 overall while Freeburg season concludes at 22-10.
Look ahead: Breese Central faces Benton at the DuQouin Sectional at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 21.
Okawville 50, Nokomis 10, Class 1A
The Rockets rolled to the Okawville Regional championship while improving to 29-4.
Next up: Okawville advances to the Jacksonville Sectional and will face the winner of the Greenfield Regional at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 21.
Carlyle 52, Father McGivney 46, Class 1A
The Indians improved to 27-5 after downing the Griffins to capture the Metro-East Lutheran Regional crown.
Mary Harkins led Father McGivney — which finished the campaign at 29-4 —with 13 points.
Next up: Carlyle advances to the Jacksonville Sectional and will face the winner of the Calhoun Regional at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 21.
