Update from IHSA state wrestling in Champaign: Mascoutah grappler takes title

The metro-east is well-represented at this weekend’s 2023 IHSA Individual Wrestling State Finals in Champaign on the campus of the University of Illinois.

Here are several photos from the big weekend of wrestling. Competition continues throughout the day and evening Saturday.

Of note, Mascoutah’s Santino Robinson defeated Washington’s Peyton Cox in a championship match. Cahokia’s Jason Dowell captured third place Saturday, while Belleville East’s Jonathan Rulo finished second.
