Game Balls: Top high school sports performances of the week
Jordan Augustine
Althoff Football
The senior quarterback had a record-breaking performance Friday in a 68-46 victory over Mater Dei, throwing for 418 yards in the first half and finishing the night 24-of-30 passing for 537 yards and five touchdowns. Augustine threw two TD passes to Tarkus Ferguson and one each to Jordan Goodwin, C.J Coldon and Jaylon Bester as the Crusaders improved to 3-0.
Brooke Boatman
O’Fallon Golf
Taking on one of the more challenging courses in the metro-east, Boatman shot an 83 on Saturday as she won the individual title at the Alton Redbirds Girls Golf Invitational at The Woodlands in Alton. Boatman’s round helped O’Fallon place second behind Edwardsville in the team competititon.
C.J. Coldon
Althoff Football
The only two-way starter for Althoff did plenty of damage on the offensive side of the field Friday in a 68-46 victory over Mater Dei. The junior receiver set new career highs for pass receptions (10) and receiving yardage (272 yards) and also caught a 65-yard TD pass from Jordan Augustine. Coldon had nine catches for 258 yards by halftime.
Kaylie Comley and Ellen Binnion
Belleville West Tennis
The top doubles duo at Belleville West, Comley and Binnion won the No. 1 doubles flight to lead the way for the Maroons who won the team title at the Bloomington Purple Tournament on Saturday.
Reyondus Estes
East St. Louis Football
The Flyers’ versatile quarterback ran the ball time 10 times for 165 yards and two touchdowns Friday in a Southwestern Conference victory over Alton. Estes scored on runs of 25 yards and 13 yards in the first half to help East Side build a 48-0 lead. Estes also completed 7-of-14 passes for 160 yards and two TDs.
Mason Hewitt and Kentrail Moran
O’Fallon Football
The yards did not always come easy, the Panthers’ big-play backfield tandum kept O’Fallon close in what eventually become a 13-12 loss at Belleville West. It was Hewitt’s 75-yard sprint in the fourth quarter that pulled the Panthers within a point of the Maroons. Moran rushed 23 times for 104 yards, more than 80 of which came in the second half.
Ali Fournie and Mackenzie Koester
O’Fallon Volleyball
Koester and Fournie, both juniors, each earned all-tournament honors after helping the O’Fallon Panthers to a 5-0 mark and tourney championship at the Lincoln Tournament. The Panthers beat Quincy Notre Dame in the title game. Koester leads the Panthers in blocks and is second in kills, while Fournie leads the team in assists.

Staking his claim as the top player in the state, Hemings was at his very best at Mattoon Invitational this weekend, finishing with a 36-hole total of 5-under par 139 and posting a four stroke win.
Drew Millas
Belleville East football
The unquestioned leader of the Lancers, Millas, a senior quarterback, completed 26-of-36 for 262 yards and two touchdowns as Belleville East rolled to a 44-7 win at Granite City. Millas also ran for 43 yards on four carries and scored on a 10-yard run.

Younger brother of two-time Class 3A state qualifier Will O’Keefe and only a freshman, Andrew O’Keefe has his breakout week as he won titles at the Edwardsville (Tigers) Inivtational on Wednesday, then won the championship at the Belleville West Invitational on Saturday.
Ryan Rakers and Tyler Siever
Carlyle Football
Rakers completed 6-of-10 passes for 227 yards, with four of those six completions going for touchdowns, in a 41-12 Cahokia Conference victory over Red Bud. All three passes Siever caught went for touchdowns as he racked up 174 yards in receiving against the Musketeers.

The 2014 News-Democrat Class 2A rumner of the year, Richter posted her first win of the ‘15 season when she won the Edwardsville Tigers Invitational on Wednesday at Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville.
Emily Schaller and Savanna Stevens
Freeburg Volleyball
Schaller and Stevens were big reasons why the Freeburg Midgets put together a 4-1 record Saturday and claimed the championship of the Mascoutah Invitational Tournament. Schaller, a libero, had 63 digs and 42 service points while Stevens, an outside hitter, had 34 kills, 30 digs and seven service aces.
