Collinsville Soccer

De Anda scored all three goals last Tuesday to lead Collinsville (7-1) past Southwestern Conference rival Edwardsville 3-1 and hand the Tigers their first loss this season. The talented senior leads the Kahoks with 11 goals in eight games.

The Crusaders senior leader completed 16 of 24 for 246 yards and three touchdowns as Althoff remained undefeated with a 42-0 win over Mount Vernon. Augustine also added a 10-yard scoring run.

David made it two wins in six days when she fired a two-over par 56 at the Yorktown Tournament on Wednesday. The win was the fourth of the season for the Crusaders senior who has also won the Goalby-Haas Classic, Mascoutah Invitational and O’Fallon Panthers Classic.

The Flyers’ versatile quarterback completed 9-of-23 passes for 247 yards and five touchdowns in the first half Friday during a 68-0 Southwestern Conference win over Granite City. Estes has thrown for 570 yards and nine TDs for the Flyers (3-1).

Fields and his teammates turned what some expected to be a fairly close game into a 42-0 rout of Wesclin as he ran the ball 13 times for 137 yards and two TDs.

The speedy Gunter racked up 216 yards and three TDs on only 15 carries Friday in a 45-8 Cahokia Conference win over the Dupo Tigers.

Pressed into action in Week 1 when starter Damone Witherspoon went down with an injury, senior running back has made the most of his opportunity by averaging 5.0 yards over 71 carries. Friday, in a 42-14 win over Alton, Holman rushed 19 times for 107 yards.

Highland Football

Marti’s good work has been overshadowed at times by Highland’s highly productive running game, but the quarterback completed 6-of-11 passes for 149 yards and three TDs Friday in a 49-9 Mississippi Valley Conference win over Mascoutah.

Highland Volleyball

The 6-foot-1 senior middle hitter and University of Alabama recruit helped Highland (8-2) to the championship of the Granite City Tournament. The Bulldogs defeated Red Bud in the championship match and McSparin is among the St. Louis area leaders in kills, averaging just under 4.5 per match.

A weekly visitor to Top Performers, the speed-burning Triad running back ran for 155 yards and four TDs on 16 carries Friday in a 35-14 Mississippi Valley Conference win over Waterloo.

Schuetz had a big night in Mater Dei’s 61-36 win over Mt. Carmel, completing 18-of-27 passes for 355 yards and four touchdowns. Schuetz is having a strong season, completing 58-of-115 passes for 973 yards and 11 TDs with four interceptions.

Having another outstanding season, one of the nation’s top junior receiving recruits hauled in six passed for 170 yards and three TDs Friday in a 68-0 victory over Granite City.

Terveer scored two second-half goals Saturday as West defeated host Belleville East 2-0 to win the city championship. Terveer leads the Maroons with seven goals.

“Butchie” Timmermann is one of the area’s most elusive receivers and poved it again Friday with six catches for 174 yards and a pair of touchdowns in Mater Dei’s 61-36 victory over Mt. Carmel.
