Two members of the Edwardsville girls basketball team were named first-team all-state for Class 4A by the Illinois Associated Press.

Seniors Kate Martin and Rachel Pranger are headed to the Bloomington and Redbird Arena this weekend for the state finals. The Tigers take on Lombard Montini in a semifinal game at 5:30 p.m. Friday. Both Martin and Pranger were key members of a team last season that fell short of a state title by a single point.

Martin averages 17.1 points and 4.7 rebounds per game and has committed to play next year at the University of Iowa. Pranger scores 12.2 points and has 4.4 rebounds per game. She's considering her Division I options between basketball and volleyball.

Faye Meissner, a senior guard at Central, was an honorable mention pick in Class 3A. The Cougars also are Bloomington-bound and will play Nazareth Academy in a semifinal game at 12:45 p.m. Friday.

Meissner has committed to play at the University of Missouri–St. Louis.
