The Edwardsville Tigers downed the O’Fallon Panthers 3-2 in a Southwestern Conference softball game Tuesday.
O’Fallon started off strong, scoring a run in the top of the first. Edwardsville answered with a run in the bottom of the fourth.
Both teams went on the score in the seventh inning, but Edwardsville came out on top with two runs in the final inning.
Maria Smith went 2 for 3 at the plate for the Tigers and picked up an RBI. Lauren Tripp also went 2 for 3, while Anna Burke and Lauren Taplin both went 1 for 3. Jordyn Hendrick picked up the win in a complete-game effort. Hendrick struck out six Panthers.

For the Panthers, Sarah Diessner was hot at the plate, going 3 for 3 and with an RBI. Nikole Patterson added a double and an RBI.
Edwardsville (21-4) plays at Belleville East at 4:30 p.m. Thursday. O’Fallon (13-11) takes on Nashville at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.
