Edwardsville bests East in baseball

The Edwardsville Tigers defeated the Belleville East Lancers 11-6 in Southwestern Conference baseball on Thursday.

Edwardsville scored five runs in the bottom of the sixth to clinch the win.

Isaac Garrett got the win, allowing one earned run on two hits through five innings pitched. Evan Lawrence struck out five, walked five and took the loss for the Lancers.

For Edwardsville, Dylan Burris went 3-for-3 with a two-run triple. Joel Quirin was 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Dalton Wallace hit an RBI double and Drake Westcott went 2-for-2, also driving two home. Kade Burns and Daniel Reed each doubled in their only at-bats.

For the Lancers, Evan Lawrence hit a double and struck out five Tigers in five innings. Rickey Dambacher picked up an RBI hit.

The Lancers (13-15) take on Triad at home at 4:30 p.m. Friday while Edwardsville (22-5) plays Jersey at 4:30 p.m. at Tom Pile Field.
