Rain and wet fields forcing changes in area baseball and softball playoff schedules

The Class 4A Edwardsville Baseball Regional championship game between Edwardsville and Alton was postponed Saturday and has been moved to 4:30 p.m. Monday. The game will be played at Tom Pile Field at the Edwardsville Sports Complex.

Althoff’s Class 2A Vandalia Baseball Sectional championship game against Teutopolis was postponed Saturday and moved to 4 p.m. Monday. The game will be played at Vandalia High School.

The Class 4A Granite City Baseball Regional championship game between Belleville East and O’Fallon was suspended in the bottom of the third inning Saturday because of heavy rain with O’Fallon leading 6-0. The game will resume from that point at 3 p.m. Monday in Granite City.

Here are other weather-related scheduling changes for area baseball and softball playoff games:

— The Class 3A Freeburg Baseball Regional championship game between Freeburg and Waterloo was postponed Saturday and has been moved to 4:30 p.m. Monday.

— The Class 3A Jerseyville Baseball Regional championship game between Highland and Jerseyville was postponed Saturday and has been moved to 4 p.m. Monday.

— The Class 2A Nashville Baseball Sectional championship game between Nashville and Du Quoin was postponed Saturday and has been moved to 4:30 p.m. Monday.

— The Class 1A Carlinville Baseball Sectional championship game between Okawville and Morrisonville was postponed Saturday and has been moved to 4:30 p.m. Monday at Blackburn College.

— The Class 4A Alton Softball Regional championship game between Edwardsville and Alton was postponed Saturday and has been moved to 4:30 p.m. Monday at Alton.

— The Class 3A Waterloo Softball Regional championship game between Waterloo and Columbia was postponed Saturday and has been moved to 3:30 p.m. Monday.

— The Class 3A Mater Dei Softball Regional championship game between Mater Dei and Centralia was postponed Saturday and has been moved to 4:30 p.m. Monday at Breese City Park.
