Undefeated Alton Marquette beat Freeburg 62-53 at the Sparta Tournament.
The Explorers took a slight lead at the end of the first quarter but were up by 10-points at halftime.
Alton Marquette (18-0) plays Steeleville at the Sparta Tournament on Thursday. Freeburg (9-10) will play Red Bud at the Sparta Tournament on Thursday.

Collinsville tops Jerseyville
Collinsville had two players in double figures in its 46-42 win against tournament host Jerseyville.
Marshall Harrison and Ray’Sean Taylor scored 10 points apiece for the Kahoks.
Collinsville (12-8) will play Cahokia at the Jerseyville Tournament on Friday. Jerseyville (9-9) will host Quincy on Friday.

Girls Basketball
Edwardsville continues winning streak
Edwardsville continued its quest for a perfect season with a 51-43 win over St. Joseph’s.
Quierra Love scored 17 points for Edwardsville, with teammate Jaylen Townsend adding another 13 points. Myriah Noodel-Haywood’s six rebounds aided the Tigers on the defensive end.
The Tigers led 36-25 at the half, but a low-scoring third quarter allowed the Angels a chance to bounce back.
However, Alex Kerr’s 15 points and Annmarie Tyson’s 12 points were not enough to push St. Joseph’s past the Tigers.
Edwardsville (19-0) will play Belleville East on Tuesday. St. Joseph’s (11-4) will play Whitfield on Monday.
