Collinsville, Triad seniors honored as IBCA Class 3A-4A all-state selections

The post-season honors are beginning to pile up for Collinsville senior Ray’Sean Taylor.

Named as an Associated Press Class 4A first-team all-state selection a week ago, the Kahoks senior guard has been honored as a first-team all-state pick by the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association.

An SIU-Edwardsville recruit, the 6-1 Taylor averaged 23.6 ppg, 6.1 rebounds, five assists and nearly three steals per game for the Kahoks, who finished 31-3 and advanced to the Class 4A Pekin Sectional title game. The Illinois High School Association then canceled the remainder of the postseason due to the Coronavirus Pandemic.

Joining Taylor on the Class 4A all-state team were teammates Cawhan Smith and Keydrian Jones, who were named as special mention all-state players.

Also named as special team all-state selections were seniors Ethyn Brown of Belleville East and Brennan Waller of Edwardsville along with Belleville West junior Tommie Williams.

In Class 3A, Luke Cox, who led the Triad Knights to one of the finest seasons in recent memory, was a second team all-state selection.

The 6-3 Cox averaged 23.1 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 2.9 assists and made 65 3-point field goals for a Knights team who finished 24-9 and won the Mississippi Valley Conference title.

Jerseyville junior Tucker Shalley was a Class 3A special mention selection.
