East St. Louis junior center Jeremiah Tilmon, considered one of the nation’s top basketball recruits in his class, told PrepHoopsIllinois he is transferring to La Lumiere Prep School in LaPorte, Ind.
In an interview with PrepHoopsIllinois, the 6-foot-10, 210-pound Tilmon gave the following response when asked why he was transferring.
“Good coaching staff and best opportunity for me. Get me to mature myself and I can get better help for grades and get known worldwide.”
La Lumiere is a top-flight basketball program that has produced numerous Division I players in recent years.
“Being the whole team is loaded we will get a lot more media there and a lot of great wins,” Tilmon told the website. “I just wanted to go ahead and make the move.”
Tilmon plays summer travel basketball with the powerful St. Louis Eagles AAU program and has Division I offers from Illinois, Indiana, Missouri and North Carolina State according to Rivals.com. Tilmon averaged 11.3 points and 6.9 rebounds for the Flyers last season.
