Highland roll over C-M with ground game

Seven Highland running backs combined for 192 yards of ground control offense as the Bulldogs dominated Mississippi Valley Conference rival Civic Memorial, 50-0, Friday.

The Bulldogs averaged nearly seven yards per carry during the game with Isaiah Harmon leading the way with 60 yards on just seven attempts.

Highland quarterback Garrett Marti completed 11 of 16 attempts for 156 yards and a pair of touchdown passes. The Bulldogs’ defense intercepted C-M quarterbacks four times, including two from Sam LaPorta and one each by Dylan Shaw and Sebi Wolf.

The Bulldogs improve to 6-0 on the season and will host Waterloo in another MVC matchup Friday. Civic Memorial, 1-5, dropped its third straight and will be at home against Mascoutah.
