Triad rebounds with win at Mascoutah
The Triad Knights rebounded from their week 5 loss to conference leading Highland with a 24-7 victory at Mascoutah Friday.
Triad, in its first game without injured running back Trevor Nott, got a pair of touchdown runs from Cody Qualls and a 41-yard scoring run from Samual Yager. Travis Speed added a 30-yard field goal for the Knights.
Mascoutah struggled to move the football on the ground, but Jeff Getchell and Devon Ross combined to complete 16 of 25 passes for 174 yards. The only Indians’ score was on a 10-yard touchdown run by Darius Cooley in the fourth quarter.
Triad (5-1) next faces Jerseyville at home with hopes of clinching a playoff spot in class 5A. Mascoutah, at 2-4, will need a win at Civic Memorial next Friday to keep its playoff hopes alive.
