Triad defeats Jerseyville in overtime
Devin Towns found the endzone on a seven-yard run in overtime to give the Triad Knights a 13-7 sudden-death win over Jerseyville Friday.
The game was scoreless at halftime and most of the third quarter until Samual Yager scored for Triad on a 10-yard run with 59 seconds left.
Jerseyville tied the game at 7-7 less than three minutes later in the fourth quarter when quarterback Drew Sauerwein scrambled for a 14-yard touchdown.
Towns, who rushed for 82 yards on 22 carries, scored the game winner as time expired in the first overtime.
With the win, the 6-1 Knights keep pace in the Mississippi Valley Conference with unbeaten Highland. Jerseyville fell to 2-5, despite a 20-for-32 passing performance by Sauerwein.
