It’s high school football Friday. Here’s a snapshot of notable games, plus BND coverage plans
Week 5 of the high school football circuit in the metro-east will kick-off Friday night, and below is a snapshot of some notable conference games around the area, along with several key players to watch.
On Friday night, the BND will also post game results from around the region. We will update the scores list as we get results throughout the evening.
Later Friday night and on Saturday, we will also post a game by game recap from around the region plus we will have separate coverage of some individual games.

Now here is the snapshot of Friday night games:
Belleville East at Alton
Records: Belleville East is 2-2 overall, 0-1 in the SWC. Alton is 1-3, 1-0.
Kickoff: 7 p.m.
Most recent game: The Lancers lost to East St. Louis 57-0. The Redbirds beat West 28-7.
Next game: Both teams resume league play next weekend as Alton entertains Edwardsville at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 30, and East hosts O’Fallon at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 1.
East players to watch: QB Darron Millender Jr. (41-67, 513 yards, 3 TD); RB Moisey Trimble (24 rushes, 224 yards, 2 TD)

Belleville West at Edwardsville
Records: Edwardsville is 3-1 overall, 0-1 in the Southwestern Conference. Belleville West is 0-4, 0-1.
Kickoff: 7 p.m.
Most recent game: The Tigers lost to O’Fallon 32-31. The Maroons fell to Alton 28-7.
Next game: Both teams resume SWC action next weekend as Edwardsville visits Alton at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 30, and West hosts East St. Louis at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 1.
Edwardsville players to watch: QB Jake Curry (57-83, 829 yards, 9 TD); WR Kellen Brnfre (22 receptions, 351 yards, 2 TD).

Most recent game: Columbia beat Roxana 28-27. Freeburg lost to Breese Central 31-19.
Next game: Both teams resume league play at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 30, as Freeburg visits Roxana and Columbia travels to Wood River.

Next game: Both teams resume MVC action at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 30, as Highland hosts Civic Memorial and Triad entertains Mascoutah.
