Poll results: Edwardsville quarterback voted BND Football Player of the Week

Jake Curry of Edwardsville High School is the winner of last week’s Belleville News-Democrat Football Player of the Week high school poll, as selected by readers of bnd.com.

Curry, a senior, completed 15 of 24 passes for 253 yards and 3 touchdowns in a 49-45 victory against Belleville East. Curry also rushed 17 times for 64 yards and 3 touchdowns.

Curry received 80% of the votes after as the Panthers stay competitive for the season.

Here are the other candidates:

  • Koby Osterhage, Waterloo High School, Senior, RB: Osterhage had 167 yards rushing on 8 carries, 3 touchdowns and caught 6 receptions for 81 yards in a 46-6 victory over Civic Memorial.
  • Dierre Hill Jr., Althoff Catholic High School, Junior, RB/DB: Hill had 25 carries for 218 yards on the ground and 3 touchdowns in Althoff’s 41-22 victory over Mater Dei.
  • Braylon Grayson, O’Fallon High School, Senior, QB: Grayson completed 11 for 18 passes for 188 yards and 4 passing touchdowns in a 56-7 victory over Belleville West.

The poll ended at 10 a.m. Friday.
