Week 8: Vote for the Southwestern Illinois Football Player of the Week
Week 8 of the high school football season in the metro-east is in the books.
Now’s your chance to vote for the Belleville News-Democrat’s High School Football Player of the Week. The poll closes at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 20.

Here are this week’s nominees:
Kaden Rakers, Breese Central High School, Junior, RB/S
Rakers rushed for 175 yards on 26 carries and 3 touchdowns, along with 2 catches for 62 yards in the Cougars 33-13 victory against Columbia. He also had 3 solo tackles, 5 assisted tackles and 1 pass defended on the defensive side.
Koby Osterhage, Waterloo High School, Senior, RB
Osterhage had 15 rushes for 61 yards, 4 receptions for 72 yards and 4 total touchdowns (2 RUSH/2 REC) in Waterloo’s 42-13 win against Mascoutah.
Jayden Ellington, Althoff Catholic High School, Freshman, QB
Ellington completed 7 for 7 (100% completion percentage) passes for 83 yards and 3 touchdowns all in the first quarter as the Crusaders routed Granite City 53-14.
Jahkori Adams, O’Fallon High School, Senior, RB
Adams rushed for 165 yards on 26 carries and 3 touchdowns in the Panthers 23-0 victory over Alton.
