Missouri Tigers football team lands 4-star East St. Louis safety Charles Bass III
Following a short pause after a historic recruiting stretch, Missouri added another regional recruit to its roster. Safety Charles Bass III announced his commitment to the Tigers’ class of 2025 on Wednesday.
Bass, a four-star prospect from East St. Louis, ranks as the No. 9 recruit in Illinois, the No. 34 safety in the nation and the No. 369 player in the Class of 2025, according to the On3 Industry Ranking.
Bass announced his commitment after his official visit to Missouri on June 21. The 6-foot, 185-pound defensive back chose Missouri over offers from Kansas, LSU, Texas A&M, Arkansas, Michigan, Oregon, Cincinnati, Illinois and Nebraska. During the 2023 season, Bass recorded 85 total tackles (58 unassisted) as a cornerback for East St. Louis High School.
Bass joins class of 2025 defensive backs Mark Manfred and Dyllon Williams. He is the 17th commitment to the class and the second commit in the class from Illinois, joining defensive tackle Jason Dowell from Belleville.
The newest Tiger bumped Mizzou’s Class of 2025 to No. 13 in the nation and No. 6 in the Southeastern Conference, according to the On3 Industry Ranking. The Tigers were No. 14 before Bass’ commitment.
This announcement revived a historic recruiting streak, one in which the Tigers landed four highly rated class of 2025 pledges in just four days: wide receivers Jayvan Boggs and Donovan Olugbode, and offensive linemen Lamont Rogers and Keiton Jones.
Although the Tigers may see recruiting slow down as the 2024 season approaches, Mizzou fans can look forward to SEC Media Days. Coach Eli Drinkwitz, quarterback Brady Cook, receiver Luther Burden III and defensive lineman Kristian Williams will represent the Tigers on Tuesday in Dallas.
